Aphasie – Aphasia

The loss of a previously held ability to speak or understand spoken or written language, due to disease or injury of the brain. For example, a stroke.

Artikulationsstörung – Articulation disorder

An inability to speak due to a defect of the organs of speech resulting in defective pronunciation of sounds.

Aspiration – Aspiration

Without a swallow reflex, food and liquids can enter the airway.

Ataxie – Ataxia

Loss of coordination of the muscles, especially of the extremities.

Auditive Verarbeitungs- und Wahrnehmungsstörung – Auditory processing and sensory disorder (APD)

Individuals with APD have normal peripheral hearing but the way the brain processes auditory information is affected.
